Know the game before you play.

02 — Editors’ picks

Three casinos, three reasons

Why the house should have to explain itself

First published 2007 by Per Lindqvist

Written then

Our 2007 argument was blunt: an operator that will not publish its payout rules is asking for trust it has not earned. At the time almost none of them did.

Checked now

The publishing part largely happened, and licensed operators now state return figures and terms. What did not happen is consistency in where those numbers sit, so the original complaint holds in a narrower form: the facts exist, the placement still varies.

07 — Our standards

The rules we hold ourselves to

  • We say what you give up

Every recommendation carries a trade-off in the same breath as the strength. If we cannot name one, the review is not finished.

  • Order is editorial

Commercial relationships never move a casino up a list, into a pick, or into the finder results.

  • Dated checks, or no link

Each card shows when we last checked the terms. If a check is stale, the link out disappears until we have looked again.

  • No scores, no countdowns

No trust ratings out of ten, no expiring-offer timers, no language that implies you are likely to win.

08 — Safer play

Gambling should stay affordable and dull in the best way

Set deposit limits before you play, keep time limits on, and step away from any session you are trying to win back. Support is free and confidential.

18+ only. Gambling involves risk; you should expect to lose what you stake.
